UFO is nothing but the sighting of strange objects and lights in the skies. There has been a quite long history regarding this. In modern world, any unexplained aerial phenomena are referred to as unidentified flying objects or flying saucers, or in short UFO.

Description of UFO

There have been various descriptions for UFOs. For example, sometimes, it has been described as glowing wheels, and some other time as colored balls of light, or objects like cigar, disk, or crescent-shaped objects.

The First Well Documented UFO Sighting

It all happened in 1561 in Nuremberg, Germany when the first ever well documented UFO sighting occurred. Reportedly, the sight was quite interesting and surprising. Thousand of people witnessed red, blue, and black balls or plates, crosses, and tubes that appeared to battle each other in the sky over the city. A broadcast published that year supports this incident.

Flying Saucer

UFO is also teemed as Flying Saucer. This term was first coined in 1947. There is an incident associated with this. There was a businessperson named Kenneth Arnold who told reporters that while he was flying a private airplane near Mount Rainier in Washington, he happened to see nine objects flying over the mountain in a formation and at a speed of more than 1,600 miles (2,500 kilometers) per hour. As per the report, Arnold said the objects as moving like a saucer skipping across the water. It was after the publication of that report that Arnold’s description was shortened and it took no time in becoming popular. Since then, Flying saucer is also used to refer a UFO.

Records of UFO Sightings

There are thousands of records of UFO sightings. This includes photos of alleged UFOs and interviews with people who claim to have seen them. Interestingly, all such reports were classified as secrets because of the reason that UFOs were considered a potential security risk. However, later when these reports were disqualified, almost ninety percent of the cases of UFO sightings were identifiable and experts found it quite easy to explain the reality behind the same. As we all know, most of these sightings were nothing but celestial objects, such as stars or bright planets like Venus, or atmospheric events such as auroras or meteors falling through the atmosphere. In many other cases, these UFO sightings turned out to be nothing else than weather balloons, satellites, aircraft lights, or formations of birds.

One thing has been proved so far that most UFO sightings are accompanied by unusual weather conditions.
